Reusable Hair Extensions A New Trend

Most must wait years upon years for their hair to grow out. But imagine having hair grow to Rapunzel-length in about six hours.

It”’s no doubt that celebrities use hair extensions to wow us with new, longer dos, going from G.I. Jane to Jane Seymour almost overnight. But, anyone can enlist extensions to give length, volume and/or creative color to their hair. The latest addition to the hair extension realm? Canadian Company, True.

Euphoria Salon for Men and Women, Inc. in Hanover Township is one place those looking for longer, fuller and perhaps more colorful tresses can go. Owner Erica Demchak is relieve, fresh from the Unique York City Hair Expo, excited about the new hair extensions product.

“This is note new in the area; this heed is brand unique,” she said. “The hair is really nice, soft and intelligent. Some extensions feel dry.”

Demchak cites the softness of the hair as one difference from hair extensions she has used previously. True Hair Extensions can also be reused and have a line of products specifically to support the extensions. While extensions seem synonymous with adding length, Demchak explains however, that people can use them to add thickness to thinner hair, add bangs and even get a little wild.

“You can get one or two too, not unprejudiced the whole head. You can give your hair an accessory for fun,” said Demchak, adding that students can add school colors for school spirit week or people can obtain pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Week. The extensions can be removed after the event, while creative colored highlights must grow out.

How the extensions work:

First, the customer sets up a consultation to determine the length, style and color, or colors. There are solid colors, which would match up with someone’s natural shade; there are blended colors and highlights and then there are the fantasy colors, which are the bold, vibrant colors. From that palette, people can choose from Spring Green, Wine Red, Sky Blue, Pig Pink, Barby Pink and Dim Purple and others. Customers can choose one or more colors, as many people can get highlights this map, too rather than with foils.

As for length, True extensions come in 30 cm, 40 cm and 80 cm (this is Crystal Gayle-length!). While 30 cm could be considered somewhat long, even those with very short hair who wish to add volume would exhaust this length and when the stylist is through placing the extension on, he or she would cut them to the desired length.

True extensions come in straight, curly or wavy, another difference from other brands which only offer wavy. And, Demchak explains that since the extensions are 100% human hair, there are some benefits.

“You can perm it, you can color it– just like real hair. It won’t harm or break,” she said, adding that when styling every day, the extensions can be straightened or curled.

A demonstration DVD was playing on a small LCD screen inside Euphoria to explain the procedure. To apply the extensions, a fragment of hair the same size of the extension is take. The bond, which looks like a plastic tip, is placed at the top of the hair. The stylist will take the “bonding gun” and apply heated pressure to the bond for eight to 10 seconds. Then, the strand is squeezed, twirled and smoothed. That is repeated until the whole head is complete, or until the desired amount of extensions are in. Demchak demonstrated the strength of the bond on a mannequin head by tugging it, the tripod was resting on almost falling over.

“See, it won’t advance out,” Demchak laughed. Trim strong.

Once the extensions are placed, the hair is then finished off, explains Demchak.

“You go back in and cut to blend in the extensions,” she said, adding that the bonds aren’t visible. “You can’t search for them unless you are going through someone’s hair.”

The extensions must be professionally removed through a simple 100% damage-free procedure. A solution is sprayed on the bond, and a removal bracket (which looks like big tweezers) pinches on the bond to crystallize it. Then, the bond and extension slides lawful off. A unique bond can be placed on the top when ready to reuse the extensions. For cases where someone is adding color for special events, the reusability is a great benefit for the wallet.

“That’s why I chose this brand,” Demchak said. “With other brands, when they are done, they’re done.”

Demchak says the average whole head would steal 150 strands and six hours to complete. However, as mentioned earlier, some people may just want to add a few strands to add color or thickness.

“Or, someone may want to add a longer bang to the front of their hair,” said Demchak. She also noted that True extensions are a huge alternative to braids for women with ethnic hair. “Braiding can break hair. These won”’t distress the hair, but it must be chemically first.”

Demchak says that with proper upkeep, the extensions can last from six months to a year. To wait on them last, she says Accurate comes with a line of products.

“This line has products to benefit with the maintenance and that’s unusual [for extension lines]. They have puddies, pomades and shampoo and conditioner,” she said. “They also come with a specific brush so it doesn’t catch on the bond. All these products serve the color, bond and keep the hair healthy and shiny.”

Demchak is very excited about True extensions.

“They are just fun,” she said.

Whether you are impatient and want to grow out your hair quickly, want to add some wacky color for vacation– and not wait months for it to go out– or want to give your hair extra volume, hair extensions are an option worth exploring.
